If you can no longer attend a World Cup 2026 match, FIFA's official Ticket Transfer feature is the cleanest way to send that ticket to someone else.

As of May 6, 2026, FIFA says the feature is available for tickets purchased on FIFA.com/tickets, including tickets bought during earlier sales phases and through the official Resale/Exchange Marketplace. The main rule is the deadline: transfers are allowed up to one hour before kick-off.

Quick answers

Can I transfer World Cup 2026 tickets?

Yes. FIFA says Ticket Transfer is available for eligible tickets purchased through official FIFA channels.

What is the deadline for ticket transfer?

FIFA says tickets can be transferred up to one hour before the relevant match kick-off.

What happens if the recipient does not accept the transfer?

FIFA says the pending ticket returns to the original FIFA ticketing account if it has not been accepted by the one-hour deadline.

Which ticket products can be transferred?

FIFA says Single Match Tickets, Venue Specific Tickets and Team Specific Tickets are eligible, while some complimentary, promotional or restricted tickets may not be.

Does the new holder get full control?

Yes. FIFA says the new ticket holder can use the ticket, re-transfer it, invite guests or list it for resale or exchange where allowed.

Is Ticket Transfer the same as resale?

No. Ticket Transfer is for assigning a ticket to a known person, while the Resale or Exchange Marketplace is FIFA's official route for listing a ticket for another eligible buyer.

What is FIFA Ticket Transfer for World Cup 2026?

FIFA describes Ticket Transfer as the official tool that lets the main ticket holder fully assign ticket rights to another person.

This is not the same as forwarding a confirmation email. FIFA says all World Cup 2026 tickets are mobile tickets inside the FWC2026 Mobile Tickets app, and screenshots or photos of tickets will not be accepted for stadium entry.

Which World Cup 2026 tickets are eligible for transfer?

FIFA's official FAQ says Single Match Tickets, Venue Specific Tickets and Team Specific Tickets are eligible for transfer, whether they were purchased on FIFA.com/tickets or through the official Resale/Exchange Marketplace.

If a ticket belongs to a wider package such as a Venue Specific Ticket or Team Specific Ticket, FIFA says that individual match can still be transferred as a Single Match Ticket.

FIFA also says some complimentary, promotional or restricted tickets may not be eligible.

Which World Cup 2026 tickets can be transferred?

FIFA's official Ticket Transfer eligibility rules by ticket type

Ticket typeEligible for transfer?FIFA note
Single Match TicketYesFully eligible
Venue Specific TicketYesIndividual matches can be transferred as Single Match Tickets
Team Specific TicketYesIndividual matches can be transferred as Single Match Tickets
Complimentary, promotional or restricted ticketsNot alwaysFIFA says some may not be eligible

Package-based tickets can still move one match at a time under FIFA's transfer rules.

What rights does the new ticket holder receive?

FIFA says the recipient gets full control of the transferred ticket. They can use it, re-transfer it, invite their own guests, or list it for resale or exchange on the official FIFA marketplace where allowed.

That is different from simply sending a ticket to a privately invited guest while keeping the related benefits yourself. For that situation, FIFA says the right tool is the FWC2026 Mobile Tickets app once it becomes available in mid-May 2026.

How is Ticket Transfer different from the FIFA Resale/Exchange Marketplace?

Ticket Transfer is for cases where you already know exactly who should receive the ticket. The Resale or Exchange Marketplace is FIFA's official channel for listing a ticket when you need another eligible buyer.

FIFA also says tickets bought through the official marketplace can still be transferred later through the Ticket Transfer feature, subject to the same rules.

If you need the resale route rather than a direct handoff, our resale marketplace guide covers that side in more detail.

Ticket Transfer vs Resale or Exchange Marketplace

The cleanest way to separate a direct handoff from an official resale listing

FeatureTicket TransferResale or Exchange Marketplace
Main useSend a ticket to a known personList a ticket for another eligible buyer
Who chooses the next holderThe original buyerThe marketplace process
What happens after acceptance or purchaseThe recipient gets full controlThe marketplace buyer receives the ticket under FIFA's official resale rules

If you already know the new holder, transfer is simpler than listing the ticket for resale.

What happens if the recipient does not accept in time?

FIFA says tickets can be transferred up to one hour before the relevant match kick-off.

If the transfer has not been accepted by that point, the pending ticket returns to the original FIFA ticketing account.

What about Supporter Tickets and Conditional Supporter Tickets?

FIFA says Supporter Tickets can be transferred through the Ticket Transfer feature on the Resale or Exchange Marketplace from April 2, 2026 onward.

For Conditional Supporter Tickets, FIFA says transfer is only possible after the team has qualified for the relevant knockout round and FIFA Ticketing has formally issued that match ticket to the original buyer.

What should you avoid?

FIFA discourages attempts to transfer tickets through third-party platforms or unofficial accounts. Keeping the process inside FIFA accounts is the safer path and reduces the risk of failed acceptance or cancellation problems.

FIFA also says that if a transfer has already been accepted by the wrong person, FIFA Ticketing may not be able to undo it.

Bottom line

FIFA Ticket Transfer is the cleanest official option when the original buyer cannot attend and already knows who should receive the ticket. Eligible tickets can be transferred up to one hour before kick-off, and if the recipient accepts, they receive full control of the ticket.

If you need to choose a new buyer rather than name one yourself, use the official Resale or Exchange Marketplace instead.
