What moves a team above the line?
Points matter first, but the race can turn on smaller details once teams sit on the same total. A late goal can improve goal difference, add to goals scored, or push a team from the automatic top two into the third-place comparison.
- PointsThree points usually ends the panic; four points is often a strong third-place total.
- Goal differenceThe cut line can change quickly when one group produces a heavy score.
- Goals scoredIf points and goal difference match, attacking totals become the next visible check.
- Later criteriaTeam conduct score and FIFA ranking only matter if the football numbers are still level.
